A Concise History of the Salien |

|
The Salien are descendents of the Ancient Peoples who settled in North
Western Europe over fifteen thousand years ago. The first four ages of
Time were not Salien ages, they were the ages of the elves, men, dwarves
and ancient Powers.
Ages Five and Six were the Dark ages, when evil overtook the homelands of the Ancients. The People who were to become the Salien went into hiding during these dark times. It had been prophesied that a Man of the Ancient Line would be born and this King of Kings would unite the Ancient Peoples and lead them to a new home. This King was Aratar, the "Exalted". Born in 6805 BCE, Aratar's birth marked the beginning of the Seventh Age. In 6680 BCE, Aratar gathered the Salien, the "Chosen" and led them across the Great Sea to Verdusylvarian - the "Land of the Green Forests". The Evadama, Elegia, Pumilla, Libertusa, and Pauladama all joined in the exodus. Each of the Salien people settled in their own homelands near that of Aratar and the Evadam. The Salien grew and prospered in Ociderien, The "Land of the West". They fought several wars with the native Giants of the Land but otherwise lived in peace and prosperity for thousands of years. Aratar's grandson, Dyves - the "Divine", was born in 5513 BCE. This marked the beginning of the Eighth Age. Dyves married Isilya, an Aratele Elegia of the Ancient Line. They had three sons, Viggo, Horatius, and Casus. The War of the Three Powers dominated last thousand years of the Eighth Age. The fall of Caerth Malus at the Battle of Tigart Fields in 2331 BCE marked the end of the Eighth Age. The Ninth Age is the current age. It is the Age of the Gifts, marked by the struggle of the Salien against Caerth Malus and his forces. It has been an age of Watchful Peace. Before his departure, Dyves prophesied that once again a great Leader will be born of the Ancient Line of the Evadam who will unite the Four Houses of the Salien and usher in the final War between Caerth Malus and his Dark Powers. |
