The official language of the Salien is Salingua. It is an ancient language, originally based on the languages of the Evadama, Elegia, Pumilla, and Pauladama. Throughout the ages, Salingua has grown to encompass thousands of words. Many words in "human" (plebian) languages have been taken from Salingua. All Salien have the opportunity to learn Salingua, though not all become completely fluent. The Evadama living among the plebians tend to be the least fluent. While Salingua is the official language of the Salien, the common language is American English.
